Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) acts systemically as a smooth muscle relaxant. It has been found to balance blood sugar levels, &, as a carminative, is warming to the intestinal tract. The volatile oils in cinnamon are antibacterial, anti-fungal & antiviral.
SENCHA GREEN TEA
Sencha Green tea (Camellia sinensis) has higher therapeutic properties than black tea. Green tea acts as a nervous system stimulant, thus has been effective in the treatment for fatigue & headaches. The active compounds in green tea also have an inflammatory modulating activity. Sencha is known to improve heart health by having a tonifying affect; & potentially decreasing the risk of arteriosclerosis, high cholesterol & other cardiovascular conditions. Sencha contains a significant amount of catechins, which are a known potent antioxidant. Catechins fight & prevent cell damage.
Schizandra (Schisandra chinensis) Schizandra is known as one of the most powerful “youth tonics” of all time & is prized by Asian cultures for its ability to enhance youthfulness, increase stamina & prevent fatigue. Schizandra fruits or berries contain various lignans, compounds that enhance the immune system, protect the liver & improve the body’s ability to handle stress.
Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica) is also known as stinging nettle. Nettle leaf is highly anti-inflammatory & a great detoxifier. The consumption of nettle leaf has been found to reduce inflammation in the body & support the detoxification processes of the liver and kidneys. Nettle leaf is a great plant source of minerals - in particular iron.
Red clover (Trifolium pratense) Red Clover’s main use is in detoxification. It’s main actions are assisting the liver to rid the body of toxins. This quality makes Red clover very useful in many skin conditions including acne, rosacea & eczema.
Rosehip (Rosa canina) is very rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, which are responsible for it’s antioxidant effect. Antioxidants prevent cellular damage caused by oxidation. Rose-hip is a source of lycopene, an antioxidant that has been found to protect the cardiovascular system. Vitamin C & vitamin A are both found in rose-hip, which are vitamins that are both immune stimulating, assisting in the prevention of bacterial & viral infection.
Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) has traditionally been used to regulate fluid balance & promote overall health. It has been found to improve skin conditions, promote adequate circulation & improve digestive issues. These amazing benefits come from the phytochemistry of the plants, as it contains citric acid, malic acid, anthocyanins & quercetin.
White Tea (Camellia sinensis)White tea, grown & harvested in the Chinese province of Fujian, is the least processed of all teas. White tea contains the same types of antioxidants as green tea, but in greater quantities. These potent antioxidants have been found to have many potential health benefits, including boosting cardiovascular health & enhancing weight loss. Studies have found that white tea’s anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties may also slow the breakdown of the skin’s elastin & collagen, enhancing the youthful appearance of skin.
Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is specific for all gastrointestinal disturbances associated with a nervous system connection. Chamomile is great in the treatment of IBS and colitis.
